LINDY FYFE: SHIFT TWIST
September 12-October 4
OPENING: Saturday, September 12 from 3-6
My fabric constructions explore movement and colour as formal elements of abstraction. Working with recycled clothing found at thrift shops, there is play and tension in the fabric as the work shifts in the process of its creation. The title of the series, Tectonic, refers to the geological plates of the earth that slide and collide creating continents, mountain ranges and ocean beds. — Lindy Fyfe
In 2010 Lindy was given a major solo show at The Robert McLaughlin Gallery, a survey presenting her full range of media. Recently her work was featured in two Ontario exhibitions – World of Threads, Oakville and Fibreworks 2014, Cambridge Galleries.
This autumn, works by Lindy Fyfe will be included in the Art with Heart auction in Toronto and the Salt Spring National Art Prize exhibition in Salt Spring, BC, in which she is a finalist for the award. Her solo exhibition at VERSO Gallery, SHIFT TWIST, will include works from her Tectonic and Interweave series.
